June 2021: It's Time to Listen Closely
It’s June and the theme of the month is going to be a simple and important one: Listening.
Why Listening?
The obvious answer is that we can address earaches and other ear issues. Schedule a visit with your Nice clinician and we’ll help determine a treatment plan according to your needs. We’ll even refer you to a specialist if needed.
Additionally, here are the 3 real reasons we’re focusing on listening:
Empowering Marginalized Communities
Marginalized communities are often talked over and spoken for by those who should be listening, especially those for whom Pride Month is part of their story. This month, we’re going to take the time, not to share our stance on social issues and make hollow commitments, but to listen to those who are brave enough to share their stories. While we do that, we’ll look internally and ask if we’re doing enough to create an inclusive culture for our employees and our patients.
Treating the Whole Person, Not Just the Patient
Our patients deserve to be heard. In most primary care clinics, patients see their provider for five minutes and their heads are buried in their paperwork. They address the concern for the visit but they leave the person feeling vulnerable, uncomfortable and with a big fat bill. Nice clinicians see 8-10 patients per day instead of the 25+ a typical clinician sees. This gives us significantly more time to listen to our patients and make sure that all of their needs are being considered.
Innovation Requires Active Listening
Innovation comes fastest when you ask great questions and strive to understand various perspectives, and we want to be the most innovative primary care provider you can find. So, in order to make that a reality, we are spending time listening to those with different perspectives and needs than our own and learning from them to make Nice better for everyone.
So, that being said, we’d love to hear your story.
To our clients - Join us in taking this month to listen and reflect on how we can do better. Learn from those whose experiences are different from yours. Create a space for your employees to share and feel respected and then do what you can to improve that space over time.
To our patients - We will always prioritize your health, comfort and safety while delivering the most amazing primary care available. We value your feedback, good and bad. With your perspective, we’ll build a healthcare industry that truly puts all people first.
